SPORTING DOGS

Whiskeytown Sporting Dogs is a breeder of champion Wirehaired Pointing Griffons that excel both in the field and in the show ring. We place puppies throughout the United States and Canada and have been actively involved with the breed for the past 17 years.

Our passion for the breed began while searching for the perfect versatile hunting dog, one that could perform as both an upland pointer and an outstanding retriever. In addition to hunting with our dogs, we actively compete in AKC conformation events and have earned multiple national-level achievements, including Westminster Kennel Club breed and group placements, AKC National Championship wins, and AWPGA National Specialty titles. Whiskeytown Sporting Dogs has also bred multiple Best in Show winners and AWPGA Field Dogs of the Year.

Whiskeytown griffons are bred to excel not only as sporting dogs, but also as devoted family companions. Our dogs succeed in a variety of activities, including hunting, conformation, obedience, search and rescue, therapy dog work, and simply being loving members of the family.

In addition to being named the American Kennel Club 2020 Sporting Dog Breeder of the Year, Whiskeytown Sporting Dogs is an active member of both the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association and the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association.
